Foothill Ranch, California - March 23, 2005 - Aristos Logic announced today that it has successfully demonstrated 4G Fibre Channel interoperability with the industry's leading suppliers of Fibre Channel products. A reference platform using Aristos Logic's AL3400 UltraSlice™ RAID Storage Processor was used with host bus adapters from Emulex, hard disc drives from Seagate Technology and disc drive enclosures from Xyratex. A number of OEMs are currently designing storage systems with the AL3400 UltraSlice device and Aristos Logic's ASK™ RAID software.
The end-to-end test setup was created using Aristos Logic's UltraARC reference platforms, Emulex's industry leading LightPulse™ LP11000 4G Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters, Xyratex's 4G Fibre Channel enclosures populated with Seagate's Cheetah 4G enterprise disc drives.
"Emulex offers a broad portfolio of 4G infrastructure solutions, and is uniquely positioned to help drive the industry's migration to 4G speeds," said Mike Smith, executive vice president of worldwide marketing, Emulex Corp. "Emulex LightPulse 4G LP11000 Host Bus Adapters, coupled with Aristos Logic's AL3400 UltraSlice, deliver the robust technology necessary to help accelerate the industry transition to 4G Fibre Channel speeds."
"Seagate, the largest supplier of disc drives to the enterprise storage industry, is once again leading the industry in 4G Fibre Channel disc drive technology," said Jeff Loebbaka, Vice President of Global Marketing at Seagate Technology. "Successful testing of our Fibre Channel Cheetah drives with Aristos Logic's AL3400 UltraSlice is an important step towards creating the critical mass that will further fuel the growth of the 4G Fibre Channel market," added Loebbaka.
"Xyratex is leading the way in the Fibre Channel industry's transition to 4G speed," commented Said Rahmani, Senior Vice President of R&D and Business Strategy at Xyratex. "We have been working in close partnership with Aristos Logic to conduct the testing of Xyratex's 4G Fibre Channel enclosures with the AL3400 UltraSlice. With successful completion of this testing, we are well positioned to bring the benefits of cutting-edge 4G Fibre Channel technology to our customers," added Rahmani.
"Proven interoperability with the industry's premier suppliers such as Emulex, Seagate, and Xyratex validates Aristos Logic's leadership in delivering 4G RAID Storage Processor technology to the enterprise storage market," said Vipul Mehta, Vice President of Marketing for Aristos Logic. "We believe that RAID controller designs are rapidly moving from general-purpose computing elements to cost-effective, single-chip, purpose-built storage engines such as the AL3400 UltraSlice," added Mehta.
